If you’ve ever seen the movie Equilibrium, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. Some movie that takes place in the future about ultimate control over a society by a government/company/etc. If you’ve seen the movie V for Vendetta then that movie is also a good example. I’ve also read a book called “The Giver” and seen all the Matrix movies. The movie should also be available on Netflix. Any other suggestions?
The problem is the Netflix actually DOES suck. There’s nothing good on there – ever. Unless you want to watch the 200th episode of Deadliest Catch, which we do, because it’s the only mothereffing thing on there. When we want to watch movies now we just get something from Family Video – 5 nights for $2 and if you rent 3 you get one free. Dirt cheap, huge selection, and the kids movies are ALWAYS FREE. I sound like I work for them. I’ve actually fantasized about getting a job there when I’m really sick of blogging and going to school.

I think the book could have gone deeper into Val's feelings and rationalizations, since it did use the first-person perspective, and I felt it was a bit too short and ended a bit too quick, but I'm very, very glad I read it.I agree it would be great for class discussions. I guess that the Chrome OS developers are really busy ironing out the bugs of Chrome OS on the ARM CPUs. It's not a trivial task to switch the underlying CPU architecture.And since the new ARM Chromebook is so successful there is lots of pressure on the developers to remove the bugs on the new Chromebook first.We, the users of the Intel-based Chromebook should/could be happy to have a stable platform to work on. I am not missing anything essential using stable instead of beta. I am just missing the better trackpad support of Chrome 23 on my Chromebox with Chrome 21.

Hi John,I used to work in biotech labs and all our power cords were coming down from the ceiling – you just reached up and pulled one down as you needed it. That was for safety as it reduced the risk of electric shock when something got spilled. Quite a good system as long as you remembered not to whack your head on a dangling plug!

Very interesting!One claim I’ve heard, which you haven’t addressed directly, is that organic costs more than conventional (for similar yield). Assuming this is true, then your point about resiliency is akin to purchasing insurance. Is it worth spending the extra on organic to cover the risk of extreme events etc.? Or is it cheaper to purchase such insurance directly? We might even see insurance companies start to push for more organic-oriented agriculture policies.
Have you noticed how expensive bell peppers have gotten recently???But I digress… And if you think your shortcut will raise an eyebrow from teh foodies…Take the peppers and onions cut as described, coat in some cheap Italian salad dressing (think Dollar Store cheap), and saute. I've never heard of anyone reading the Twilight series that didn't end up as hooked as you are, including myself. I don't agree that the writing was bad, but maybe I was just so distracted by the great story that I didn't notice – I'll have to read them again… oh well! Thank you for speaking out about this show. There were things about the show that confused me, but as I am not familiar with Amish culture or traditions, I wasn’t sure. I didn’t even finish the first episode and will not watch any more. It’s a shame TLC had to sink to this level instead of showing something more realistic. I have watched bits and pieces of a few of the NatGeo show, which may be why this one didn’t ring accurate for me.
